Total Time = 6h 29m 28s
Overall Rank = 228/266
Age Group = 35-39
Age Group Rank = 43/44
Event warmup:

10 minutes swimming, biking and running the day before.
Swim
  • 46m 33s
  • 2112 yards
  • 02m 12s / 100 yards
Comments:

Took about 1/4 of the swim to get warmed up and comfortable, but felt good after that. Swim time includes a .33 mile run to transition.
What would you do differently?:

Warm-up more. The race started 45 minutes late, so it was difficult to judge when to start warm-up.
Transition 1
  • 02m 1s
Comments:

At the end of the transition area was a huge puddle/pond. We only had about 1 foot of dry ground to run through. Many people ran with their bikes straight into the water, covering themselves and their bikes in mud.
Bike
  • 2h 57m 14s
  • 56 miles
  • 18.96 mile/hr
Comments:

Stomach felt bad the whole ride. I was only able to drink and eat about half of what I planned. It was very hot and I drank to much lake water during the swim.
Transition 2
  • 02m 11s
Run
  • 2h 41m 32s
  • 13.1 miles
  • 12m 20s  min/mile
Comments:

I ran just about everything except the aid stations. Walked a bit with Nathan when I caught him and a little at mile 12. Started to cramp at mile 10. Not getting enough drink and calories during ride hurt. Also, at 95 degrees, it was hard to get the heart rate down and stay cool.
Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster:

Stomach hurt and had to use the restroom the whole race. Stopped once to pee. There were no restrooms on the course, on at the transition area.

Event comments:

The bike course was unsafe with pot holes and cattle guards uncovered. Many people crashed, lost water bottles and nutrition, and flatted.

Im glad I wasn't the only one that noticed no p-potty on the bike or run course.  I know the bike course was cut shorts, but I didn't it was that much.    Love the volunteers they did great job.  Shirt & finisher medal are keepers

I think the swim was short as well. I have it at a mile.
