Hi there,

Just wondering if anyone knows whether they are having the kids 'fun run' tomorrow morning?  I know this is common at other IM events, but haven't seen/heard anything for this weekend.... We will likely walk down to the terrace around 9am anyhow just to see but am hoping someone knew something specific??

They are.  I think there is information about it in the athlete's guide.

Looks like it's going to be in mid 50's when we get out of water.  Just curious what's everyone's choice as far as bike gear?

Personally I'll be sporting some arm-warmers and gloves.  I also taped up a few vents on my shoes (if it's below 60 I tend to freeze).

A pair of my husbands socks with the toes cut out for arm warmers so that I can toss them.  Otherwise the same as I wear when it's much warmer.

I'm unsure on this myself.  My threshold temp is around 60 and it looks like it will be around 55 out of the water with it warming up over 60 around 9:30-10:00.  I will wear my arm coolers, but they work a little bit like warmers when I'm not sweating.

So, my plan at this point is to just wear my normal gear and freeze a little the first hour.  Hopefully I'll thaw out after the temp's get over 60.

It does look like the wind forecast has picked up a little    weather.com is showing 11-12mph out of the North.

Tony -

Be careful with that approach.  Remember, a human body is burning calories to stay warm, this may disrupt your nutrician plan that you have been training on.  Just my 2 cents.

Best of luck to everyone....looking forward to cheering you all on!  NEED MORE COW BELL!!!

I just posted out in Tri Talk to see what the consensus is.  Maybe it would be prudent to just grab a long sleeve to put on over my tri top that I can toss at one of the water stops.

The weather at IMMT a couple of weeks ago was very similar. I went out in arm warmers/ tri top and was fine. Had gloves in my jersey pocket but never put them on. Ditched the arm warmers at special needs.

Weather will be nicer tomorrow. Chance of rain later today/tonight, so cover your bike, or at least the seat, derailleur, handlebars.Recommend arm warmers in T1 and heading out on the bike for the first hour, if you are like me and have no body fat and can't stay warm. Eventually, you'll generate the body heat.I got my volunteer shirts and wristband and can't wait!EEEEEEAAAAAAAWWWWWW!!!

gonna run over to the store and grab some tube socks as suggested and cut off the end I figure that will be the cheapest.

Check Machinery Row Bicycle, which is close walk to the Monona Terrace on John Nolen Drive And Williamson Street, heading East.

Given 'em a call first - 608-442-5974.

Wanted to wish everyone good luck tomorrow.  I finished IM Moo last year as my first.  Amazing experience....I'm really getting envious of you all right about now.  Although I'm not missing the last 5 months of that IM training!!

Enjoy your entire day tomorrow.  As you creep into the water tomorrow morning with the sun rising over Lake Monona and Mike Reilly's voice booming, know that you are ready.  Cruise down Garfoot with confidence, tackle those three b##ches, head out of T2 with guarded adrenaline.  Thank the folks cheering you on State Street and never forget the way the night lights illuminate the Capital.

And remember those last strides down MLK.  The most amazing finish line in all of sports.

Good luck!

Steve

We drove the bike course today.  There are definitely some fun hills out there.  There were certainly some steep climbs but they looked to be relatively short.  That one really steep hill on the north side of the loop with the sharp left turn at the bottom looks to be downright terrifying.  Hope my brakes work.

I'll be there in bike transition checking people through.  Say 'HI' if you want.  I'm the tall, skinny guy with glasses wearing an IM '07 Finisher cap.

Please rest well, and have a great race!  I don't wish for anyone needing me to pick them up in the bike SAG wagon.  I'll be a Run Marshal, too, behind the Kohl Center, just past the little bridge on the way up the bike/ped path (mile 2.25 or so) from 4 - 8 pm.
