Total Time = 08m 21s
Overall Rank = 14/117
Age Group = Girls 9-10
Age Group Rank = 3/19
Pre-race routine:

This was Emily's race and she is reporting in. My Mom timed my splits and put in the ones she got

I racked my bike the cool way without my kick stand using my seat so I could just pull off the rack. I set up my transtion area on the beach.
Event warmup:

Practiced riding on the trails. My mom forgot my race number in the car and we went back and got them. Then my Mom forgot my chip, with only 10 minutes before the race, she ran again back to the car to get my chip.
Swim
  • 00m 49s
  • 50 yards
  • 01m 38s / 100 yards
Comments:

I couldn't stand up for half of it. It was hard to see where you were going because of bad visibility in the water. I had to stand up to look to see where I was going. I was nervous, but once I got in the water I was less nervous.
What would you do differently?:

I need to learn to "see" while I'm swimming and make sure I know where to go.
Transition 1
  • 01m 29s
Comments:

When I was getting my shoes on, I was dizzy and kept falling down. But I was way faster than last time. I didn't wear socks!
What would you do differently?:

I would try slip on shoes faster and put on helmet quickier and run faster to the bike.
Bike
  • 02m 56s
  • 1 miles
  • 20.45 mile/hr
Comments:

It was hard to pass people because the trail was so thin. I almost crashed into someone who was biking on the wrong side of the path. I did pass one kid with training wheels.
What would you do differently?:

I would go faster since it was such a short distance.
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

Put down the kick stand, took helmet and started running. There lots of mud and puddles which made me go slower. I passed tons of people in transtion.
What would you do differently?:

nothing
Run
  • 03m 5s
  • 0.5 miles
  • 06m 10s  min/mile
Comments:

I ran close to fast but not my fastest until the finish. I passed a few people on the run.
What would you do differently?:

Go faster sooner...so I could have passed the kid who finished before me. But my time was faster since he started before me.
Post race
Warm down:

Drank water, ate a hot dog and some snacks. We waited for the results. I ended placing 4th. When they gave out medals for my age group, I noticed one girl was 11 not 9-10. I saw other kids that were in the wrong age group too.

Today when the official results were posted on line, I found out I placed 3rd!!

My Mom emailed the race director to see if I can get my medal. I feel sort of mad since it seems they always get things mixed up. I'm proud I placed third.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I didn't go hard enough. Confusion in the swim

Emily did excellant and we are so proud of her!! She is excited to do more triathlons and has two questions...when can she do a regular Sprint and do I think she'll ever win 1st overall in a Tri!!

She is planning on doing some cross country races and a duathlon in October.

Great Job Emily! You did fantastic. Keep it up, and yes, you can win 1st overall, but make sure you keep if fun! Good luck with Cross Country and your duathlon.
