Subject: RE: Tire/wheel question plumberchris - 2011-10-02 5:58 PM Shouldn't a 700 x 25C tire fit a 700C wheel? I am having a hard time and don't want to force it. The wheel is a Titan Forte 622x13. The bike shop recently replaced the rear wheel with the same wheel, but used a 700x23C tire. Any suggestions? That wheel should take a 25 tire. Some tire/wheel combo's are a real PITA to mount. Don't be afraid to use tire levers, but be careful not to damage the tube. If that doesn't do it, try stretching the tire gently like a big rubber band. Use your foot (soft shoe to avoid damaging the tire bead) & pull a bit with both hands. That might stretch the tire enough to mount it. Finally, FWIW I know a few who swear by GENTLY warming the tire before mounting with a hair dryer on low heat setting. (I've never tried that last one). If all else fails, give up & have the bike shop mount the tire. That 1st mounting is sometimes the hardest. Good luck |
