Subject: RE: barefoot/minimalist shoes I had foot pain about 6 months ago and did some investigating of the VFF. After a post here which brought lots of good (if conflicting) information, I chose to very very slowly work my way into running in my VFF. After 6 months, I will say that I really enjoy running in the VFF and I think they may have improved my overall running time, and I'm very sure they have helped my jumping/footwork in basketball. However, I will say that I don't run far in them, maybe 2-3 miles at most, and if I don't really really stretch before and after, I'm sore for a few days. To give you an example, I ran 11 miles on Sunday in my regular jogging shoes, then ran 2.5 on Wednesday evening in my VFF. I didn't stretch before or after my short run in the VFF, and my calves are still sore this morning. So, trust your body but even if you feel great, work into it real slow - and stretch |
