Swim
Comments: This was a good practice race for bigger races. There were several places where i was being kicked and hit, and i hit and kicked others. Not intentionally just how it is racing sometimes. This was my first experience with it, after i got use to it and stopped stopping to apologizing it went lots better. Dont feel bad if you hit others and dont get your feeling hurt if they hit you, it is just part of triathlons. What would you do differently?: Get a swim coach. My time is consistante with what i have been doing in the pool, but i need to get faster. Transition 1
Comments: The run from the water to the transition was a LONG way. They had sand out and carpet on the street so they made it the best they could. Kind of sucked having to run that far, but it is just one of those things that makes each race different. What would you do differently?: nothing Bike
Comments: This was the first time i ever had any saddle discomfort. Not sure if it was the road miles, road surface, or just time in the saddle. I can ride for several hours no problem on the trainer but today i was having fits. It was not to bad, and i just peddled through ti and got to the run as quick as i could. What would you do differently?: Get a tri bike. Every rider that passed me was on a tri bike. Dont know if it will make me faster. but hopefully it dont make me slower. Transition 2
Comments: quick and easy. I use xtendz laces, so no tieing and no socks, helps lots. What would you do differently?: socks....maybe, maybe! Run
Comments: I am a slow runner anyway but with my age group (Clydesdale) starting so late it was HOT when we started running. I got to a few water station and they had no water or Gatorade/poweraid. I got to one and they had no cups. With the race being this time of year and the Olympic distance starting last, this in not good. I eventually picked a cup off the ground and used it to drink with at one of the water stations. What would you do differently?: train to run in the heat more, do more speed work on my runs. Post race
Warm down: cross finish line, find some shade and sat down. Got some water handed to me at the finish. What limited your ability to perform faster: running faster, heat, and lack of water. Event comments: This was a great race and well orginized. The lack of fluids sucked but it happens, just run along to the next one. This was my first "On UR LEFT" race, and it was great, i will defiantly do another one. Might try and do all of them next year. Last updated: 2011-08-10 12:00 AM
