Swim
Comments: The swim was last and I was tired and not an expierenced swimmer by any means. This was my first ever triathlon and I had just taken swim lessons 4 months earlier to learn to swim. What would you do differently?: Practice more. Transition 1
Comments: Because T1 was run/bike I didn't have to worry about having wet feet, etc. I could have changed my shoes faster and the biking shoes I had were not good for triathlons. My bike shoes were loose the entire bike ride because I did not get them fastened properly and did not want to stop and take the time to fix them. What would you do differently?: Buy new bike shoes and practice transistions. Bike
Comments: The bike section was pretty good...what I expected. Wish I had my shoes on better, probably could've shaved some time off my ride. What would you do differently?: Practice drinking more in race conditions or buy an aero drink holder. Buy new shoes (which I did!). Transition 2
Comments: Bike to swim transistion stunk. I didn't run well with my bike, but then we had to shed our shoes and run barefoot for a LONG way over a parking lot to the swimming pool. Stepped on a sharp rock early on and hurt the bottom of my heel. What would you do differently?: The course should have been designed differently so the transistion area exited out closer to the pool. I shed my bike stuff and got ready for the swim ok. Need to practice running with bike. Run
Comments: Like swimming, I wasn't much of a runner. Before this tri, I had never run over a 5k or done a brick (stupid, I know ... now) and here I was adding a bike and swim on for good measure What would you do differently?: Traqin...train....train. Actually my time was pretty much what I expected given my earlier 5k runs. Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: Just not in good enough shape and not expierenced with combining the events. Event comments: The race was great with the exception of the T2 transistion design. Very well organized and staffed. Disappointed the swim was only 1/8 of a mile when originally scheduled for a 1/4 mile, but on race day, glad it was shortened because I was tired. Last updated: 2004-03-15 12:00 AM

Fighting off fire ants -- unloading bike and stuff from the car in the dark and didn't realize I was standing in ant pile. Off to a great start on my first ever triathlon!
Scratching numerous ant bites, stretching and light jog. Because this was a 1/8 mile pool swim, the order was reversed. Run... bike... swim
