Age Group Rank = 27/48
Pre-race routine:

Up at 5. Drove to Las Colinas. Got into transition about 6:15. Laid out transition area. Ate a bagel with peanut butter about an hour before race time and drank about 20 oz. of accelerade.
Event warmup:

ran about a half-mile, stretched, stretched, stretched.
Swim
  • 08m 23s
  • 500 yards
  • 01m 41s / 100 yards
Comments:

not bad at all. kind of weird to have to climb up a ladder in an outdoor swim, but it was really okay.
What would you do differently?:

swim harder.
Transition 1
  • 02m 2s
Comments:

was okay. kind of a long transition area, long way to run to get to bike.
What would you do differently?:

Still had a lot of indecision about what to do. probably cost me 20 seconds or so. need to be more sure of exactly what I am going to do in transition.
Bike
  • 53m 28s
  • 18 miles
  • 20.20 mile/hr
Comments:

Fun course. Nice course. Very enjoyable. Felt really strong on the bike.
What would you do differently?:

could probably go a little harder.
Transition 2
  • 01m 38s
Comments:

not too bad. fairly quick in actual transition. had a long way to run with the bike.
What would you do differently?:

popped a gu before heading out - probably should have done that on the run course.
Run
  • 28m 18s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 09m 06s  min/mile
Comments:

Felt pretty spent when first going out - first 3/4 mile was hard, but picked up the pace after that and felt pretty good. had a decent sprint to the finish.
What would you do differently?:

more bricks. haven't bricked enough later in the year, so that bike to run transition kind of hurts. work on running form.
Post race
Warm down:

walk, stretch, accelerade, waffle, water, more amino vital, more stretching

What limited your ability to perform faster:

age. training hasn't been the best lately due to work requirements.

Event comments:

This was a fun race. I almost didn't do it because I thought the lake would be horrible to swim in and my training has been pretty lax lately. It was fun. It was easy to get in and out, the course was pretty good, it was just a good race overall.
