Pre-race routine:

Decide this morning that I might try this today when I made plans to meet a friend at the park for a bike training ride. That's about all the pre-race I did.
Event warmup:

Walked 4 minutes before starting the actual running.
Run
  • 12m 55s
  • 1 miles
  • 12m 55s  min/mile
Comments:

Don't know what else to say except -- I'm a terrible runner!!!! Though my injuries stayed at bay, I was not pain-free -- just uncomfortable and not enjoying myself. Kept thinking "why am I doing this -- it hurts!!".
What would you do differently?:

Losing weight would be a good start!
Drink water before beginning the run -- not hydrated enough.
Transition 1
  • 02m
Comments:

Had to unlock the van to get the bike out, put on helmet and shoes.
What would you do differently?:

I tried having one shoe with laces out and only the velcro strap to tighten. This worked fine, and I will try training with laces out of shoes to see if it feels OK all the time. It does save me a little time.
Bike
  • 39m 42s
  • 10.2 miles
  • 15.42 mile/hr
Comments:

Ride felt good. Could have pushed just a bit more.
What would you do differently?:

Use my camel back hydration system as I have done before on the bike leg. This affords me plenty of water for the entire race and I do not need more on the run leg.
Transition 2
  • 01m 45s
Comments:

Had to unlock van again, put bike in and change shoes.
What would you do differently?:

Put running cap on top of running shoes so not to forget it (it was sunny today, plus I like running with a cap on).

Run
  • 13m 14s
  • 1 miles
  • 13m 14s  min/mile
Comments:

I need to get better at this, or simply give up on this endeavor!
What would you do differently?:

Not use the new small hydration pack I bought. When running, I have no time to drink, the water adds more weight to carry and sloshes around. Useless.
Post race
Warm down:

Took one minute recovery HR-- which was 32, slowly walked for abour 7 minutes, did minors stretch, just for calves.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

My weight is number one factor. My need for more run training is number 2.

Event comments:

I rate the race as a 3 only because os my own performance -- it is a race I made up.

It is becoming a challenge for me to believe I should be entering races!! My running is so bad and is NO fun -- just makes me want to quit and just swim and bike. We will see how much more of the triathloning thing I continue to do after my 2 already scheduled races.

I am very glad to have done this today, but -- well, simply put -- disappointed in my ability to run.
