Pre-race routine:

Get up at a reasonable time to drive to the City and walk down to the start with plenty of time to spare. Pre-race is always pretty quite for me. Stand to the side or out of the way and keep to myself. Was entered with a friend so we waited and got ready for the run together.
Event warmup:

Stay warm, stay hydrated. Stretch, little job. Que for toilet. Stretch. Gel and water. We off!!!

Comments:

This is a great run and was an awesome challenge for myself and Danny my mate. We trained fairly well and I finished right in my target time of between 95 and 100 minutes. Was pretty happy to break the 100. The race plan was to run the first 10km at 4.5min/km which I think I just managed and then just try to hold just over that for the second lap. The race was a while ago now so I am a little sketchy on how I was feeling. The first lap I was pretty happy with and feeling good but I think around the 14/15km mark I started to fatigue. Pretty tired but I had some left for the rest I spose which was good. The training was paying off. I was pretty well spent in the last 2km. It was pretty tough. Mentally I was fine and tried to pick up the pace a notch but the legs were gone. Over the finish line and I was ecstatic. Had a nasty nasty case of chafe though. Will need to remedy that for the next long run!!!
What would you do differently?:

Include more hills in training or anything that helps and increases stride length.
Shave down or do something to prevent chafe....
Post race
Warm down:

Stetch. Walked. Cheered Danny over the line!!!!!

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Always could train more. I need to be more specific in my training also. Just also clocking up more k's in those legs.

Performance: Good
Course: The course is great. A two lap course through an awesome city like Sydney Under the Harbour Bridge and through the Rocks. Up to Hunter Street along Pitt. Running up Hunter Street is a killer, especially on the second lap. Once at the top, along Macquarie and into the Domain and down to Mrs Maquaries chair. It was such an awesome day to be out and running through Sydney. Back from the chair, back down Hunter and Pitt and into the Rocks. Turn at Argyle and head up the hill into the top of the rocks. Another nasty hill on the second lap. Onto Kent and loop around onto Hickson road next to the boat terminal and back to the start. Do it all again for the second lap.
