Comments: The sun was shining causing huge glare and mad eit hard to sight. Boats caused choppiness but after first bouy turn, I got into a rythm and was able to push ahead. What would you do differently?: I won't be so concerned with others around me. I will draft more and sight less often. Transition 1
Comments: New bike, new shoes, new transition... Was difiicult running from T1 bc of the new shoes. Was clipping in first time so went slow and didn't run and hop on. After saddling, everything was smooth. What would you do differently?: I will leave shoes on pedals and velcro them after getting onto bike. I will also practice jumping on bike. Need to get right clip adjusted for knee. Maintained a good avg speed of 17. Bike
Comments: Again, new bike, new gears. Had some trouble shifting. Gears were slippery. Right knee was hurting. What would you do differently?: I will ride bike and get kinks out of gears. Learn the triple derailer! Maybe push a little harder on the speed next time. Was conservative for the run. Transition 2
Comments: Racked bike twice bc of uncertainty of penalty. Smooth transition to shoes and wore ears for fun but could've docked some time if I didn't. What would you do differently?: I will ride with feet on top of shoes. I will practice jumping off moving bike and running. I will pay attention to how bike needs to be racked in T2. Running shoes on before helmut off? Not sure if I did but sounds good! Will do it next time for sure. Run
Comments: Didn't feel myself for first lap. Legs were like lead. Pace picked up on second lap bc of finish coming but was just plain tired. Knee hurt some from bike. What would you do differently?: I will carry additional gel. I will drink some in T2 to prepare for run. I will run with my mind for first couple miles till legs and body can catch up. Post race
Warm down: walked... walked.. walked.. drank powerade and ate PB&J sandwich, banana, chips for sodium. Massage was key and great for recovery!! What limited your ability to perform faster: knee hurt somewhat.. and the heat, humidity. Event comments: For my first olympic size tri... I thought it was great!!! Epcot was fun to run thru. Finish line could have been bigger with Disney characters greeting at the end for some novelty. It was barely noticable, big let down! Starting line was great with the music and the sunrise.. I would reccommend this race, very organized and allowed plenty of time for set-up of transitions. Smooth course. Last updated: 2005-10-01 12:00 AM
