I have not read any of the other posts, but my feeling is that you are not over reacting. I would absolutely want to know if that information was being distributed and what the logic behind it was. When I was in 6th grade I was just learning about my period. Geez, how times have changed! Scares me!

Seriously, though, I think you are right about wanting parental notification about this stuff. I think school should be out ahead of the kids actually experimenting with this stuff, and this means they have to try to present the material before the kids get there, but letting the parents know always is better than not. They can't have a reason for not doing that.
