Run
Comments: This was the first time I was officially timing myself for the run/walk method. I started using this method over the summer mainly to get my mileage in, but all of a sudden, I started to notice that I was keeping up with the runners. I used a 4/1 split for this race, and I knocked 7 minutes off my previous half marathon best of 2:03. What would you do differently?: I don't know if I would do anything differently, but knowing that I can move faster as a run/walker than just a runner, certainly boosted my confidence going into the Marine Corps Marathon. Post race
Warm down: Light stretching, Gatorade, and a Bananna What limited your ability to perform faster: I think if I would have gotten more rest, things would have been better, but overall I'm very pleased with my performance. Event comments: The race was alright. There wasn't a lot of spectators on the course, and we ran in a lot of office parks. So, it was not very exciting, but it was well organized. There were plenty of water stops and volunteers out on the course. Last updated: 2005-10-29 12:00 AM

The night before I ate some pizza and drank a Mountain Dew (pre-race night before ritual). Stayed up to about 1am watching SNL. I swear I normally don't do this...but I was using this half marathon as more of a training run.
Did some light stretching and some laps in the parking lot to get warmed up.
