Um ... is Mumbai outside the Perimeter?

There is a great series called Tri-the-Parks with events through Georgia. (http://www.tribluesky.com/)

The first one is actually being held April 8th in Florida about 80 mi. south of Tallahassee at St. George Island State Park. Not sure why they are advertizing this to Atlanta folks within the Active.com search results as this is a heckuva drive from Atlanta, but nonetheless it is the first event of the season.  The distances are 800 meter swim/18 mile bike/4 mile run.

The second event is in Carrollton, GA (out I-20 about ~45 min to 1 hr. from the Perimeter) on April 29th with distances of 600 meter swim/11.2 bike/3.1 mile run.

I did my first tri at this park last year, albeit with another organization, and enjoyed the course.

Welcome!

My suggestion is ANY sprint tri will be a good first sprint tri. Although the experience can be enhanced with good organization, the finish line is still the same regardless of the venue. When you cross that line for the first time, you're life will change forever and you can, with pride, announce to the world that you are indeed a triathlete!!!

Best of luck and welcome to the family!

Tri the Parks is good, but I would avoid the one at Ft. Yargo as your first, 4 transitions this year, and take a look at the bike course profile. I will be there getting revenge for last year, though. That was my first, and it treated me quite rudely.

If you want one later in the season, I recommend the PTC tri, late August. http://www.tri-ptc.com/phpws/. Mostly because I live here, but it is a fun and not very difficult race in a friendly place.

Avinash:

There is a group of BT'ers, lead by Brett (Rocketman), that will be getting together tomorrow night to discuss some group training. (See thread link below) I highly recommend going and/or getting in touch with them as they can not only help you with establishing/tweaking a training plan to fit your goals + objectives, but help you by offering advise on rudimentary things such as form, equipment and so forth.

Also, it is muuuuuch easier to train with a group than by yourself.  If someone is waiting for you at such and such time to work out, then it is a lot more difficult to blow off a training session.

Happy training and hope to see you on a group ride or two!
