5K Turkey Trot - Run

Pre-race routine:

Light running to warm up, stretching then some accelerations to race pace.

Comments:

First mile was 5.34 digging to stay with the two runners in front of me. This most likely cause for the fast first mile, which was to fast for my game plan. 2nd mile was 6.15, HR spiked up the hill and caused me to slow some on the flat portion of the course. The last 1.1 (with the big double uphill) was 6.30 min/mile, overall this section was good and I had to dig deep to keep the pace up the hill. The bottom line is I now have a NEW PR for the 5K!!!!
What would you do differently?:

Went out to fast, especially with the first uphill whcih I think caused me to slow the 40 sec on the next mile.

First mile HR was 162 average but I did hit the mid 170s. 2nd mile was holding around 174 then HRM wigged out and was showing 240, so data is wrong.

Not the fastest dude out there but I hit my goal and a new PR at 19:00 flat!!!!

Yeah, only the third fastest guy out there! 5:34 for the first mile, awesome work. And yeah, if I could run the time I did today during an Oly, that would be sweet. Nice run.
