Pre-race routine:

Arrive early, walk course, pick up packet, warm up.
Event warmup:

1 mile jog. Stretch just before gun.

  • 26m 37s
  • 3.1 miles

Comments:

Started too far back in pack and had to pass many people to find a group running at my pace. Tough passing for the first 1/2 mile then things settled down. No kick at end of run. Had to really struggle not to walk at 2 1/2 mile mark. Did not take any water during race. Pretty happy with first race in 18 or so years.
What would you do differently?:

Drink before race better.
Post race
Warm down:

Walk up and down finsh area to cheer on the wife. Had some water, bagles and bananas.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Needed to get settled into my pace earlier.
