cigarette butts everywhere (Page 2)

I don't get the corelation between a fat person at McD's and a Smoker.  I understand that obese people may cause insurance rates to raise, that effects my wallet, not my heart and lungs like the person smoking next to me. 

my point is that smokers get harrassed by people who say things like "dont you know your killing yourself" the same thing could be said to an obese person, yet it isnt socially acceptable to harass them. all the second hand i inhale is nothing to what i have inhaled due to brush fires here in SoCal. yet no one here in LA (the complainer capital) ever one told the fire department "stop doing just home protection and fight the fire." (not saying they didnt do a super job) i havent seen people harass a person who driive a hummer over the pollutants that we inhale. but we will complain about a smoker. (i always loved the peole in LA who never say sh%t about smog complain about second hand.)

Last summer, after my class reunion was over and the bars closed, I ended up with all the party stragglers at my house who also ended up being a bunch of smokers. (My point being that it's not my regular crowd of friends). So about 5 minutes after we got there, people started to light up and someone said, "Oh! We can't smoke in Michele's house, she's a runner." So they all went outside and smoked and we stood around laughed and visited awhile before they all eventually meandered on home. The next morning, I went outside and my driveway was covered with cigarette butts. I thought how ironic that was---they thought they were being polite by not smoking in my home, but thought nothing of littering all over my driveway.

But I know that not all smokers are like that and my friends who smoke are very courteous of others when smoking and always dispose of their butts properly.

I am sorry if I offended any smokers by saying that I don't like that they litter and find it to be acceptable. That seemed to be the point of Michael's post as well... not just to demean smokers in general. However, believe that if I saw an obese person throw their McDonald's bag out the window, I would think the same thing of them.

i agree when they toss them on the ground its rude. i just get irritated when a blatant statment loke "smokers are pigs" get blurted out. some are, but not all. when i smoked, if there was not a trash can or ash tray, i would feild strip it and ut the butt in my pocket. some just toss, and yes its rude.
