I'm going to do the course on Saturday with a couple of folks from the West Side--can't swing it on Sunday.  I found my HRM strap so I'll have that and a new nutrition plan to help out--hopefully I'll save legs for the run.  Are you doing Ralph's?

Could you guys fill me in on the road conditions? I am heading to the bike shop this weekend to get some new sew ups and need to know what type of tire to get. I have heard alot of flats. Is this b/c of debris or rough roads? Any info would be a great help.

Thanks

The roads are weather beaten asphalt and kind of rough, there's a couple of places (McDowell Rd) where the roads are real bad (cracked and very bumpy). There is a couple of bridge overpasses (On the Beeline Hwy) that have some serious cracks that have been know to cause water bottles to go flying. The debris is mainly on the sides of the road which I'm hoping on race day with closed roads will not be an issue. Hope this helps.

Good luck on Saturday. I'm not that insane to do a 1/2 3 weeks before my 1st IM, but I am going out there to help out.

Trying not to be nervous......

I wish I could have all those days back when I didn't get out of bed and train hard, so I could do it right!!

I need a big do-over for some of my training......

Hey don't sweat it!  I've only done a 2 month build up and a 1 month taper and I've cut several workouts short and even skipped a few COMPLETELY.  I'd like a do-over too!  ha ha ha

we're going to be fine.  just stay in the zone, and remeber what Lance says:

"Pain is temporary, quitting is forever"

BRING IT ON BABY!!!!!!!!!!!!

There is NO WAY Racer No. 360 is going to have DNF next to it.  I'll walk the whole entire marathon and finish 16:59:59 before that happens!!

I will be doing one of the practice swims, probably Thursday. I am NOT nervous. I was remembering the other day how nervous I was before my first Olympic...I thought of nothing but that race for weeks before. But that one race taught me a lesson about tri's: it's all about the training. If you do your training, there is nothing to worry about. Now, facing my first IM, I know that I will finish. I know I have done the hard work, and I am ready to give it my all!!

Maybe the Thursday swim practice would be a good time for ALL of us to get together to say hello. Thoughts?

Dhyte and I will be there Thrus. for the swim. The lake opens at 8am so we were thinking to get there for the early swim (as close to race time as possible)

I agreee it's a good time to meet up.

Do you know if there is some kind of landmark we could meet at? I agree with getting there as close to race time as possible, so 8AM is good.

How about meeting right at the water (below the Mill Ave bridge)?  That is also the location for the start of the official swim during the race.

They are going to control access to the lake, so we should meet right at the entrance to the lake. Say just to the right of the stairs you will use to enter the water at 8 am

John

Dana, I'm with you it seems to take me forever to get my dang wet suit on.
