Subject: RE: Rim trainer help... I went to check out the rim trainer (it is used ). Luckily I took my road bike with me to test. I met the seller in at a gas station, I put my bike on it right there in the parking lot. No matter what I did, the wheel slipped on every down stroke. I even adjusted the belt for more tension, I played with the alignment (both the left/right and the rollers ). After about an hour trying to get this to work, I decided it just was not going to happen. I do not think there is a problem with the trainer or my bike, but they were just not a good combo for some reason. I know slippage is common on rim trainers, but this was too much for me. I really liked the idea of a rim trainer, and the price was very good, and I wanted it to work, but it did not. I am glad that I did not buy one from a store or online, then have to return it. She did not say, but maybe this was why it was for sale.
So, I will keep using the one I have now, 10 year old wind/fan type (NOISEY ), untill I find another idea. |
