70F / 21C
Overcast
Total Time = 31m 37s
Overall Rank = 257/512
Age Group = 30-34
Age Group Rank = 94/284
Pre-race routine:

Usual wake up stuff.
Xenadrine & a protein shake
Water
Event warmup:

Slight stretches (running late & too nervous to focus on the stretches.) A light jog to the Port-A-Potty to get a tissue.
Run
  • 31m 37s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 10m 10s  min/mile
Comments:

The run was ok although I didn't like being "herded" into one lane for the race. This made less room to move around and really difficult to pass people. I lost considerable time just manuevering around people throughout the course.
What would you do differently?:

I would have stretched more and paced myself better. I had so much energy before the race started that I darted out and had too fast of a pace for the first part of the first mile. If I would have stayed with my husband, who finished ahead of me by 2 minutes, I would have been better off. I now know for next time.
Post race
Warm down:

Pictures & breakfast at IHOP. :)

What limited your ability to perform faster:

The knee gave be a little trouble in a few spots mainly due to not stretching that leg well enough. AND, the mile markers weren't clearly visible, so I thought be were in transition between 1-2 mile mark so I reserved a lot of energy, but we were 1/4 mile from the finish line!! Grrr. So I sprinted the last part.

Event comments:

If I were the race directors, I would have made the mile markers clearer for the runners. Additionally I would have a detour for the traffic during the race...it's no more than a 45 minute race...they can close the street for that short period of time!! The EXHAUST from the cars stopped idle at lights etc. was just aweful.
