Thanks for the link. I just realized this race is on a Saturday which keeps me from participating due to my wifes work schedule. Im limited to Sunday races for now.

Water temp is about 68 now, I expect low to mid seventies by race day. The only hill is the bridge which you do going and coming. Its not bad, usually about a minute and a half climb for me.

Okay my pool usually says that it is around 84 degrees. Low to Mid seventies - is that a huge difference? I get pretty cold pretty easily. Should I be concerned?

My best guess is that the temp will be 74 by race day. The swim is short and with the exception of last year is shorter than advertised but a wet suit is overkill. You will see a handful of people in wetsuits but not worth the time penalty for such a short swim.

Time penalty? So by the florabama rules they are prohibited. I'll just tough it out I guess. Incentive to swim faster

I believe by time penalty they are just referring to the time it takes to take the wetsuit off.  Don't remember any rules per say about wearing one.  The water temp was bearable for the 10mins or so that you are swimming.

Sorry if I confused the issue. When I said time penalty, I was referring to the time it would take you to get out of the wetsuit not an official penalty. Unless it gets freakishly cold over the next month, you will not need a wetsuit.

Ken, how were the waves set up last year? according to projected swim times? Since there is a first timers division will they be their own (last) swim wave?  If cut off for this race is 500 people how many would they put in a swim wave?

WOW I just check the website to see how many people raced last year and i see this " Regular Registration is sold out" - so I guess we will have a fairly large playing field. Did you expect this race to sell out?  hmmm..

so this race is officially "later this month" and I'm so excited.

I'm in wave 10!!

I guess thats what i get for signing up as a uber-fatsdale...

i guess i need to get my butt on the bike..

18 miles won't be too bad though.. hopefully the wind will stay down.. that'll mean fewer and smaller waves on teh swim and an easier bike..

where is everyone staying?
