You sound more exited about getting close enough to another man for him to make a comment/compliment of that nature than your own husbands compliment of your "sexiness".
I guess if you think it came from "having" to say it because he's your husband then I understand otherwise this is an interesting perspective for us guys to take note of.

At our local Wal Mart, there is a woman who appears to have had a rough life. Long hair that looks like it sees a comb once a month. No front teeth. Thick glasses that are usually dirty and slid halfway down her nose. Her blue Wal Mart smock is usually on crooked. But she works her A$$ off! Every time I see her, she is bustling around, getting things done (in contrast to many of her coworkers). Back at Christmas, I walked into the seasonal area, looking for a wreath hanger. I saw her stocking shelves back there and asked her where they were (they were out). I was aggravated and started to walk away. Then, for some reason, I paused, and turned around and said, "It looks nice back here." (huh?) "You are doing a nice job keeping things organized and the shelves full. I know that has to be a hard job, but it looks good." She just BEAMED! Ever since then, when I go into the store, she speaks to me, and if I need something, she practically takes my hand and helps me to find it.

It was a good lesson for me. While my words were just an afterthought, it obviously made a HUGE impression on her.

My father-in-law said that an email I wrote about shopping for a wedding dress was "on par with a Dave Barry column," and my mother-in-law and step-mother-in-law (damn that's a lot of hyphens) want me to try and get it published. I'm not so sure it's that great, but it's super nice to hear.

Oh brother, um, how did I sound more excited? I simply stated it was a nice compliment. I think anyone would be flattered that someone thought highly of him/her. It would SEEM obvious that compliments from one's own spouse would mean more than from someone else...my comment about "does it count?" was more tongue-in-cheek. Sheesh! I'm very happy that my husband still finds me sexy after 12 years together.

No compliments today, but I was thanked about 100 times for helping elderly folks file their income taxes.

Unfortunately, mainly what I got today was a lot of insincere flattery from a guy who was trying to sell me on his cycling class.

"Wow, I'm really proud of you for getting up and doing this!" (Three times he said this. Yes, and I got up to ride with you on Friday morning too, when you didn't show up. Did you hear that part?)

"How are you doing? FINE? Wow, I'm really glad you're fine! If you're doing 'fine' that's great!" (We had been riding for maybe 15 minutes. Um, I've been training for a year.)

Note that this was all before he dropped me, but not before he explained that he wasn't REALLY dropping me because that wouldn't be nice when he had invited me on the ride, that what he was actually doing was pointing me back toward the park so I could practice more on my own. (Thanks, but I live in this neighborhood. In fact, I actually bike here. I know where the park is already.)

Compliments are great. But insincere compliments, patronizing hooey, that's worse than nothing at all. Sorry for venting.

I'm finding this pretty comical, so an apology in advance for laughing at your expense.  Sounds like maybe this guy's real world job is as a car salesman.

Not today, but last week when I had the flu. I was sitting shivering with my head in a bucket and my three year old looked at me and said, "You're so pretty Mommy." I don't think there's a better compliment out there!
