Pre-race routine:

I got up early and stretch a ton. I eat a bagel and a half plus a banana. I drank water and gatorade.
Event warmup:

Tried to keep warm in the car. I did some basic stretches but nothing much.
Run
  • 1h 38m 19s
  • 10 miles
  • 09m 50s  min/mile
Comments:

The temp fluxtuated quite a bit the sun would come out on section of the couse but the wind was blowing so hard you could see it pushing all the runners to one side or the other. I had a Gu at mile 4 and another Gu at mile 7 even though I don't think I needed it but the main problem was that they had ultima on the course instead of Gatorade or something else. The stuff doesn't settle with me so i used the go as a electrolite replacement.
What would you do differently?:

I overdressed again but coming around the first loop into mile 5 I took off my gloves and a top layer and ditched them into a flower bed. This helped significantly. I would probably also carry a water bottle of watered down gatorade or gu20 just in case
Post race
Warm down:

I basically strecthed and cheer on a few other runners. i grab a few banana and a abagel and did a little streching and headed home. Not much of a warm down.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

lack of training, not pushing myself hard enough, knee soreness

Event comments:

great race, great prep for my half in March. I felt confident that I go run the last 3.1 miles to finish a half. this race had a 10, 15 and 20 mile course but I played itsafe and smart and decided to stick with the 10 mile course.

nice race, great way to start the season, for my longer runs I carry gel and water flasks in my amphipod (similar to a fuel belt) they are sweet!!
