This is all fine and dandy, but try going through menopause when your metabolism just stops and you can't lose a pound, not even while I was training for a half IM and marathon last year!
Very frustrating, to say the least.

Holy smokes Cajun, I about fell off my chair.

Just to chime in here, I whole heartedly believe in the weight training. However it is far more important to know what you are doing than just go in and throw some weights around. Someone above suggested going with a trainer. Very important unless you have knowledge and training in this area. For example I lifted heavy weights for 9 years. Then I was done playing football and stopped. I got back into it, but I did not need to trian like a football player again. I had to learn to left all over again because my needs and goals were drastically different. Work with someone knowledgable, define your goals per strength, weight, and fitness and let them put a program in place for you that will work. Or go on the internet and do a ton of reading.
