Subject: back to back
I am currently a college student and am interested in trying a Tri. I have a few questions
My schedule is pretty packed (as I am sure everyone's is) however, I really want to get everything in. Since I am just starting up - basically- should I try to put two training events on one day? Ex. Swimming and Running etc? Also, how much time should I plan to train before my Tri? Side note - I am just starting out and have just started to swim laps and not just play marco polo. I feel as though i can only set aside about 1.5 hrs a day to exercising. I don't like to focus only on running, swimming, and biking, and forget weight lifting.
And good training schedules out there that are reasonable ~ I want to train for the tri and am determined to do it, however time does not always seem to be on my side. Should i wait till I have more time before i start training for the tri? This is kind of a bundle of questions. I am looking for direction.

Thanks!

Katie

Take a look at the beginning programs, I think they can fit into your schedule

yeah, u can swim in morn, run at lunch or evening...most have too to fit it in...i do this several times/week.  sometimes u have to get up early...really early...as soon as the gym opens -4:30am...it's difficult at first but gets easy after 1st week.  of course it helps if u r super-motivated or have a partner to keep u motivated.

What I am currently doing is swimming in the morning, lifting lightly during lunch and running in the evenings. I haven't started really pushing myself for distance or even time right now during the swim. Working on technique and slowly building endurance. My schedule will change once I can focus on improving vs learning. Check that I will always be working on improvement but I think you get the idea. We all have demands that take away time but with a little effort and time management skill we should be able to do what we want to do, we just may not be able to watch as much football on TV, well in my case anyway.
