Right now I am a senior in high school. I run cross country and track for my school but about 2.5 months ago I got a stress fracture in my tibia. So I basically had to stop running. Then I picked up biking instead, and got pretty good. But my stress fracture wasn't healing so I had to stop biking. I picked up swimming as a last resort. I really did not know how to swim but after about 2 months I have gotten the hang of it and have gotten pretty good. With exposure to all three of these activities I figure I might as well start doing triathlons after high school and track. I am allowed to start running again this wednesday so I'm pretty pumped.

I figure if I'm serious about this I'd need a bike. So what are some good reliable companies and at what price range am I looking at?

Welcome, Jon!  It sounds like you have a really good start on becoming a triathlete.  You will find lots of support and answers here.  I have not competed in a triathlon yet, but so far have been able to gather that people use all kinds of bikes; expense is usually an issue.  Three years ago, my wife bought me a road bike (over $1500 on move-out-the-old-models clearance) that I have ridden, um, once.  I just can't give up my old mountain bike because I like it so much more.  I've never been really keen on being physically attached to the bike; I rarely even use clips.  It might be slower, but it's what I am comfortable with.

Good luck with your training and competing.
