Any USAT officials out there?

I don't know if its any different, but I sat through an OAT officials thing-a-ma-jig at the beginning of March. I doubt there's any obligation to be an official, but I know that in order for me to maintain my Level I status, I'll have to officiate at an event or two over the course of the year. Otherwise, I'd need to sit through the thing-a-ma-jig again in order to re-obtain my Level I.

Unlike with USAT, all OAT-sanctioned events MUST have OAT officials at the race, so there'll likely be ample opportunity for me to maintain my Level I.

Yeah, Michael I saw that. Looks like you have to serve as assistant marshall at the race the next day, then marshall two more races to get certified.
