Pre-race routine:

This was a different race for me because it had split transition areas. Pre-race routine including setting up my run transition area and packing a bag for my bike transition
Event warmup:

Swam a few strokes and rode my bike to the bike transition area from the run transition area about 1.5 miles
Swim
  • 54h 00m
  • 1931 meters
  • 2h 47m 46s / 100 meters
Comments:

Overall very happy with the swim
What would you do differently?:

I will just need to train more and do some more open water swims to better navigate in the future
Transition 1
  • 04m
Comments:

This was a very good tranistion for me.
What would you do differently?:

nothing
Bike
  • 3h 01m
  • 56 miles
  • 18.56 mile/hr
Comments:

Very good bike for me, but would I be ready to run.
Transition 2
  • 03m
Comments:

Very good transition
Run
  • 3h 18m
  • 13.1 miles
  • 15m 07s  min/mile
Comments:

I had a lot of pain in my calves and knees I do not know if it was the sand or did I burn up my legs on the bike because I am riding on a road bike. 10 miles of the run was on sand.
Post race
Warm down:

Walk around drink some water

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I think I could have done better if the run was not on the beech

Event comments:

There were not enough aid stations on the run. They said there would be one every mile, but they were about every 3 miles. The race was taken over from last years director on short notice and it showed.
