Run
Comments: This is a weekly run that I did growing up with my soccer team, and have done many times over the year when I'm back visiting my parents. I did my first IM about a month ago, and I'm just starting to up my running for the Boston Marathon in April, starting my official training in about two weeks. My goal was to simply beat the time I got last year, which was 19:25. This course is a little long, but nice and flat - only one small hill that you go up and then back down. It was quite windy (20+), but there weren't many portions that were directly into the wind. I ran the majority of the time with two other guys. We pretty much traded off leading for the last two miles. Around 2.5 miles I tried to put down a fast burst, near 5:20 pace, but it didn't work and I got passed by one of the guys. He ended up beating me by about 2-3 seconds, and I was maybe 5-6 seconds in front of the 3rd place finisher. Mile paces: 6:01, 6:04, 5:53, 5:19 (last bit) I'll be shooting to go under 18 min in another 5k that I'm doing the week prior to x-mas. What would you do differently?: Nothing really - good pace for what my fitness is currently at. Post race
Warm down: Ran about 4 miles home, adding a bit more than on the way to the race, to get in a little over 9 miles of running this morning. What limited your ability to perform faster: Recovery after IM and low run volume Last updated: 2011-11-24 12:00 AM
