Swim
Comments: The swim was arranged by heats. The relays (6) were the first heat, followed by 1 women's heat and 2 men's heats. I submitted my seed time as 12:28, so I was really happy to knock more than 1 minute off my time. It was kind of hard on my ego to see how much faster the other swimmer were (3 of them were members of the college swim team, and the other two have been preparing to swim Chesapeake Bay). At 300 yards I realized that I had the entire pool to myself. Oh well, nothing to do but keep swimming. Transition 1

Event comments: It was fun to be part of such a low-key event. I wish I had been doing the entire race- hopefully they'll make this an annual event. Last updated: 2006-05-01 12:00 AM

Woke up and headed over to campus. In the parking lot I ran into Pam who introduced me to Matt, my team-mate. The atmosphere was great- it was mostly college students, with some local people. When I walked into the transition area I saw most bikes propped up on their kick stands. There were only a couple of road bikes- everyone else had mountain bikes.
Went to the pool and found my heat/lane assignment. Usually I figure that I can take the fastest time and double it- holy cow- the other swimmers in my heat had seed times of 4-7 minutes. My seed time- 12:28. I realiezed that I would have the pool to myself and have everyone on deck waiting for me to finish. The lowest seed time of the entire race was 10 minutes (although there were a few who didn't provide seed times)
