After doing 7 sprint tri's last year I will be doin Syracuse 70.3 in June, any advice on which training plan I should follow? From what I have been reading I have to really start doing a lot more longer rides/runs in zone 2 as opposed to higher intensity workouts I have been doing for the past year as I did 7 sprint tris. Any advice?

I really think the HIM training program on this site is useful. I followed it last year for Rhode Island and went under 5 hours. You might adjust it some, but it gives a good outline for when to do longer runs and rides. This year I am following it for the most part, but am tweaking my workouts based on things I've read in Joe Friel's Triathlete Training Bible. I'm hoping that boosts my speed and power and makes for better splits. I'm not racing Syracuse again this year unfortunately. I'll be doing Mooseman a few weeks before. I saw Syracuse just bumped to 100 qualifying spots for Vegas though.

How is everybodies training going.  I haven't seem much action from this thread.  Has anybody seen the new run course.  I did the course last year and the run course was pretty tough with all the hills.  This one looks a little flatter.

Just registered for this one myself, as a result of National Harbor getting cancelled. It's a long drive at 400+ miles from me, but we're stopping in Hershey, PA on the way up for some pre-race carbo loading and roller coaster riding.

Don't have too much fun on the way up there, you do have a race to do

I ran the new course last month. A few hills, mostly residential, which is much better than the previous slog down Erie Boulevard. Should offer some shade depending on when you get off the bike.

I hear the water is at 75, although I am not sure where in the water the took the temperature.

Let's hope for clear skies.

I hope this helps and have a super awesome race!

I hear the run the first year was not fun because of the scenery, and last year when I did it, I thought it was pretty tough with the hills they picked out.  So I'm sure they couldn't have picked up hills like last year so it should be good.  That may make the swim interesting if the temp stays up there like that.  It sounds like it's supposed to be pretty hot this week.  Thanks for the info.

Run has hills, just different ones than last year. No flat run there. Water was nice Saturday morning and I am worried it will be too warm for wet suits next weekend with 90s this week. Coming from a weak swimmer here. GL

Per a discussion on Slowtwitch that 75 degree measurement was done near the shore and in the afternoon.  The water temp was 71 in the morning.

I wouldn't worry about the water temp being too high for a wetsuit swim.  The temp up there may be warm some of this week but Fri, Sat, Sun temps are forecasted to be highs in the mid-70's and lows in the upper-50's.
