Subject: Toronto Biking
I am fairly new to Biking - I just did my first tri last year. I want to get in some long rides before the Ride for Heart on June 4th (I promised my neighbour I would ride the 75 km with his son)

Where do people ride in the city? I am not terribly comfortable on main roads, and the bike paths are full of pedestrians...How do I ride 100k? Go out of the city?

Easy, they don't.

I live in Oakville and don't ride on most roads. Never mind Hogtown.

The answer is: you do it early.

In the summer, when riding is at its peak (volume wise) I am out the door between 5:00 and 5:30 in the morning. My longest ride so far has been 145K. For that I followed Lakeshore rd (not blvd) out to Burlington and then the waterfront path towards Grimsby and back. I also go up Mississauga Road and Creditview road towards terra cotta quite frequently. Heritage road is extremely quiet.

depending on your pace (i'm slow), drop me a message and maybe we could hook up for a ride sometime (if you can hack the early morning departure!)
