Pre-race routine:

picked annie up from train station, ate pasta.
Event warmup:

road over to the race - bloody shins trails. Mtn bike races. I haven;t mtn biked in a long time.... looked at all the really serious people

Comments:

funny event - lots of elite riders in the sport and expert division (longer course), few normal folks in beginner division. At the Banquet I got a metal! I took 2nd to Annie - the lady who took third started 22 minutes late..... My goal was not to get lapped by the elite riders! Race people were nice.... I called my husband to tell him and how I won 2nd by default. He said this proves that the only people in Winnemucca who work out are me and all those fast people who did the long course - so soon I should be one of those fast people....
What would you do differently?:

Train!

Post race
Warm down:

road home and did some gardening

What limited your ability to perform faster:

haven't been on a mtn bike trail in a long time and did not know course!

Event comments:

tomorrow - run up Winnemucca Mtn.

Course: haven;t been on a mtn bike in a long time - more technical than I have done in 20 years. I was on husband's bike so I could have shocks, but it was a bit tall and had no toe cages or anything. Never expected water crossings! this is Nevada! But the drainages were running and felt pretty refreshing.

Hey, you rock!! Good job on some technical mountain biking even though it isn't exactly your sport.

Hey you come home with hardware, how cool is that?  Sounds like a fun day, hope you didn't get too muddy.  Do they have mud in Winnemucca?
