Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Not doing Branson this year, but my wife and I did swim a mile in Tablerock today. Good news is the water is clear with about 20 ft. visibility. The bad news (for some anyway) was that the water temp is still about 81. Cooler weather forcast in the coming week. It will be close/borderline wetsuit I'm sure. Good luck to everybody racing. I have to work, wish I was racing. |

Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Thanks for the Table Rock update! I'm probably in the minority but I hope it stays above the 76.1. I love swimming without a wetsuit. I'm afraid they will find a spot on race day that is below the cutoff and they will be legal for the race. I know I'm faster with it, but I would prefer everybody go without. At least in the Male 45-49 ![]() |

Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I was looking through the athlete guide and I see that everything pre-race is at the Welk Resort not the Chateau as previously stated. I'm not staying at either place but thought I would point that out to anyone staying at the Chateau because it was supposed to be the host hotel. |

Got this e-mail this morning from Tom Ziebart: Race Packet Pick-up on Saturday, Sept. 22nd will take place at the Chateau on the Lake Resort next to Moonshine Beach. Address is 415 North Hwy. 265, Branson, MO 65616. Mandatory Packet Pick-up for the IM 70.3, Olympic and Sprint Triathlons will be from 10 am until 4 pm on Saturday, Sept. 22nd. |

Member ![]() ![]() | ![]() right now the long range forecast looks near perfect for the big day. Of course it will change a billion times between now & then though....but it does look like cooler weather will prevail. Master![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I'm only doing the Olympic but I am very happy to see that it will warm up a bit from what it's going to be in the next couple days AND no rain. |

Member ![]() ![]() | ![]() Looks to be a bit chilly on Sunday morning. I’m going to throw a long sleeve shirt over my tri suit before I get on the bike to keep core temp warm. Than dispose it of an at aid station…..got plenty of “disposable” long sleeve shirts. (untitled.JPG) Attachments ---------------- untitled.JPG (11KB - 24 downloads) |

![]() | ![]() Anyone looking to register last minute for the 70.3? I have one heck of a deal for you...$100 with the use of my schwaggle code ( I paid 120 4months ago) as I am unable to do Branson this year, at the last minute I don't want it to go to waste (or loose all the money I paid). Email me htmatthews@hotmail.com and I'll give you the details and instructions to register with my code (my loss is definitely a great gain for someone). |

Water is 64? Really? 64? I will want to get out really quick. :-D That is the estimated temperature...the web-site says that actual temp is plus or minus 4 degrees...so the actual temp is probably anywhere between 60 and 68. |

It's going to be very chilly waiting on our waves to start Sunday morning. I was hoping for a non-wetsuit swim, but with the weather forecast I'm going to be glad to have the wetsuit on!! |

I'll probably have my wet-suit all the way on before the race starts (as opposed to half way like I usually do), as we stand around waiting for 7:00am. BTW...when are the swim waves going to be posted...I still see 2011 up there. |

I read somewhere they wouldn't be posted until registration on Saturday. I'll bet they go same order as last year. |

Member ![]() ![]() | ![]() I emailed the race organizers and they replied that the 2012 waves will be the same as 2011. |

![]() | ![]() I don't think the temperature of the water will be a problem at all during the swim, but might be a bit brisk for the first part of the bike leg! |
![]() ![]() |
New user ![]() | ![]() I am PUMPED about the temperatures! I attempted the abbreviated Muncie race in the heat and looks to be WAY better! No complaints about being too cool from me! |

Member ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Official real water temperature, not an estimate was 78F for the main lake on 9-13-2012. I checked out some fishing reports with real temps. So I'm trying for sub 6 hours...this is my first half ever. I wish everyone good luck and NO FLAT TIRES!!! I'm still 25-35 pounds from ideal perfect competitive race weight and I'm confident next year I'll be closer to that weight and I'd only use it this one time and then never use it again |

Actually, looking at that...I'm going to want to get in that water and not want to get out. Those temperatures have me rethinking wearing my white 2XU tri top and instead wearing my black nike long sleeve, size too tight, tech shirt on the bike and then switching to my tri top for the run depending on the temp I feel. I just can't see the bike ever getting comfortable(not cold) at the temps I see there. What do you guys think? |

Member ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Since this is my first HIM race...I know that there are aid stations on the bike course every 15 miles or so. My question is this...do you just toss your empty water bottle before aid station and grab on from a volunteer as you bike on by (slowing down of course)? Did you get an answer to this question? I was wondering the same. Do I use my own bottles and fill up with what they give me as I ride, or do I use their bottles from the get go and just throw them? Or do some people just ditch their own personal bottles and then grab the race bottles? I really want to understand this. Btw, I have no aero bottle thingy in front, just the normal bottles on the frame, and if need be I can zip tie another cage behind my seat but I rather not do that.

![]() ![]() |
Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() You can do it either way. Chances are the bottles they hand up will not fit snugly in your cages so you will need to take that in consideration. I used a profile aero bottle and used the water bottle hand ups to fill that, and kept my premixed drink in the cages. |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Just got the updated MDC fishing report: Table Rock Lake (James River arm): 80 degrees, Table Rock Lake (main lake): 77 degrees, Someone had posted on the Facebook page some 60 degrees or something like that. No way it will be that cold. It'll be a wetsuit swim for sure. |
