Total Time = 1h 29m 42s
Overall Rank = 218/308
Age Group = 55-59
Age Group Rank = 9/12
Pre-race routine:

Had this on my schedule but didn't sign up since training had been sporadic due to neck/spine injury. Decided to run it when I found out length was 2/15/2. Bro came down from Dallas for his first race so that made it more fun.

Coffee and Gatorade pre beforehand.
Event warmup:

Quick jog to warm up before transition closed
Run
  • 16m 30s
  • 2 miles
  • 08m 15s  min/mile
Comments:

Started fast with rest of wave, slowly fell back. HR built steadily from 165-185, still need more conditioning/endurance. Good overall pace for me!
What would you do differently?:

More run training.
Transition 1
  • 01m 52s
Comments:

Garmin: 2:40 (.14 mile) Hit lap at start/finish not beginning of transition.
Bike
  • 51m 20s
  • 15 miles
  • 17.53 mile/hr
Comments:

Averaged 18.1 mph (16:30/5 miles) on first two loops, fell to 16.9 mph (17:50) on last loop. HR fell whole ride, maybe I didn't push as hard as I should have, but really felt beat on last loop.
What would you do differently?:

Train more, hadn't ridden in 3 weeks.
Transition 2
  • 01m 22s
Run
  • 18m 39s
  • 2 miles
  • 09m 19s  min/mile
Comments:

Walked 1 minute at 6 min and 12 min mark, difference in 1st and 2nd run times.
Post race
Warm down:

jog and stretch achilles. Monster milk then homebrew with homies, Ron Stitt, Christy Santonio, Doug. Pics with Doug, Paige and Christy.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Not enough/consistent training.

Event comments:

Good local race, organized and well run.
