Who's in?

Where are you traveling from? What IM distance will this be for you?

I'm coming from Texas. This will be my 2nd IM distance. 1st was IMTX in 2011.

Can't wait! It's actually ON my birthday! What better way to celebrate? :)

I agree - finally there's a thread!! This will be IM #1 for me. EEP! Every time I think about it, I have a mix of giddiness and nausea. I'm doing Fink's plan too.

I'm in! I'd originally planned to do B2B, but a friend is getting married that day, so I switched to this race. It will be my first IM after doing two HIMs last year. I'll be coming in from just outside of Boston. I think I'm going to drive it too, since I flew once with my bike last year, and would prefer not to have to do that again for this race.

Spuphal, that's cool it's on your birthday! I've wanted to do a race on mine, but it's in February, so not much going on that time of year...

Thinking about it! Im signed up for Timberman which is 3 weeks before this race so I am having second thoughts.  But it might be a nice way  to start my taper.  Thoughts?

I'm in. Coming from Cleveland. Did the half here last year. those that haven't been here will really enjoy it. Rev3 did a really good job. Good race to bring the family/kids to.

If you are looking at hotels now, i'd suggest the Breakers. It's literally right on the beach where the swim start is. Just a walk from the transition area as well. it's a little more $$ than staying off the park grounds, but its well worth it in my opinion. Not that the other spots are bad.

IN!

Coming from West Virginia, first IM race. Funny that it is 6 months out and I am already feeling unprepared and behind, haha!

My wife is hoping this will be what slows me down. I am hoping this is what wakes me up!

I'll be doing Timberman before this race too. I'll be starting with a coach soon, and he didn't seem to concerned when I mentioned the timing, so I'd imagine you'll be fine if you want to follow that setup as well...

I just booked a room at the Breakers Hotel yesterday. I figure I might as well stay as close to the start as possible. Driving there and booked from Friday-Monday, so hopefully I don't regret keeping it as short a trip as possible!

I was initially kicking myself because no, I didn't notice it until after I'd made my reservation, but when I went back to compare, it was only 4% off for my particular room, so it wasn't worth it to me to contact them after the fact. Maybe I'll mention it to them at check-in to see if they'll honor it then, but not really a big deal...

We're trying to decide what to do.. Drive out 1 long day, stop on the way, and maybe hit Niagara or Toronto on the way home.  My wife is running RTB the next weekend, so who knows at this point.  I may be running as an emergency fill in, if I'm not dead

Trying to plan my trip....when's good to come and stay? What are the festivities like all weekend? Is Friday the day that athletes/families can hit the park? What about friends? What is there for spectators to do during the race? (My husband is supportive but also afraid he'll be bored out of his mind since I won't be finishing quickly....)

I'm in!

This will be my first 140.6 and I'll be traveling from MA.

Working with a coach & sometimes working out with AdCo.

Trying to decide what to do about a room.  Will probably end up staying at the Breakers, but am a little disappointed that I can't seem to get any info about Lighthouse Point.

Also...still need to talk to the husband to get his input regarding travel time (we'll be driving) and accommodations.

Hotel Description

Lighthouse Point, which features 64 cozy cottages and 40 quaint cabins, is conveniently located along the west bank of the Cedar Point Peninsula. The centerpiece of Lighthouse Point is the historic Cedar Point Lighthouse (circa 1862), which is the oldest existing structure on the Cedar Point Peninsula.

Cottages

Lighthouse Point Cottages are one-story, lakeside units with a private deck, deck chair and grill. Cottages sleep up to six people with a double bed and bunk bed in the bedroom and a futon/sofa in the living area. Also includes air conditioning, two televisions, full bathroom with shower, microwave, mini-fridge and coffee maker.

Cabins

Lighthouse Point Cabins are one-story units with a loft area, situated inland around a small pond. Cabins sleep up to eight people (bedding is provided for six people) with a double bed in the bedroom and two futon/sofas in the living area. The four-foot loft area can accommodate up to two people (bedding is not provided).  Also includes a private patio with picnic table and grill, air conditioning, two televisions, full bathroom with shower, microwave, mini-fridge and coffee maker.  Maximum of eight people per cabin.

What info do you need?  The Lighthouse Point area is nice, we walked through the area while camped there a couple of years ago.  You would have a little longer of a walk on race morning, but it's still close enough to be a nice option.

I was looking for price & availability.  But, just found it today when considering the dates Sept 7-10.

Go figure, Day 1 of training saw 20mph winds, 35 degrees and rain. Ah well, what does not kill you only makes you stronger....right?

It's official...just passed the 1/2 way point in the training plan, and just took the plunge and signed up for my first iron distance at Cedar Point.  Looking forward to a great time on the Top Thrill Dragster on Friday...oh and a great race!

How has everyone's training been going?  Any mods you are making to prepare for the Cedar Point course vs your normal training routes?
