Subject: DC Rock N Roll Marathon This was my first marathon and I must say it was pretty fun. However, I did a few races prior to this (25k, 30k ) and in both races right towards the end my quads and hams would cramp up real bad. I had a camelbak on so I made sure I was well hydrated so I don't know what this issue could've been other than potassium.
I made sure for the week prior to the marathon I was consuming 3-5 bananas a day just to help with the potassium. Seems like it didn't help cause around mile 17 of the marathon my legs cramped up bad until the finish. I was running a constant 7:30 pace til mile mile 17 then went to 16-19 min mile.
I consumed water at every station, water/Gatorade at every station they had Gatorade and took in a GU about every 30 min. Does anyone else have problems like this?? |
