Swim
  • 10m 25s
  • 437 yards
  • 02m 23s / 100 yards
Comments:

The laps went by much faster than I had aniticpated and I certainly never expected to see people doing breast stroke!
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

Too much adrenalin made me awkward and I was breathing hard before I'd even left transition area! Heart pounding! My bike pants kept getting caught on my saddle as I tried to get on. On the other hand I never registered feeling cold and wet.
What would you do differently?:

I am hoping a trisuit will make a difference to the smoothness of my transition. Learn to calm down and not let the adrenalin freak me out too early!
Bike
  • 1h 16m 23s
  • 17.09 miles
  • 13.42 mile/hr
Comments:

This route is daunting! I had seen it described as 'sporting' which is putting it very mildly! It has a huge amount of uphill, and I was too scared of the very steep and windy downhill to go as fast as I'd like. After falling off on a training cycle the week before my confidence on a bike is low.
What would you do differently?:

Spend more time training and building confidence.
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

Just glad to be off the bike in one piece!!!
Run
  • 33m 55s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 10m 55s  min/mile
Comments:

I was not expecting to run on grass and found it harder than running on roads/paths. At first my legs were so wooden but they finally loosened up. I did get an stitch and had to walk some of the way - but looking back I didn't drink anywhere near enough during the race.
What would you do differently?:

More brick training sessions to deal with wobbly legs! Work on bringing down that 5km time!
Post race
Warm down:

Just walked around a bit and did some leg stretches.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

a) Not enough training
b) Lack of confidence on the bike
c) First ever tri - so not enough control over my excitment, thus burnt through adrenalin and energy too fast

Event comments:

This was my first Tri so it's hard to rate it just yet. Will reserve judgement until I have done more!
