Pre-race routine:

Still dark when we arrived at the park. Cold, dark, and snowing lightly. Not the kind of conditions that make you feel like running. At least not for me.

Event warmup:

Just walking back and forth between the truck and the registration tent. A little stretching and jogging in the parking lot before the start.

Comments:

Ran the 1st leg of our relay. Adam ran second and Dirk was our anchor. It had rained and rained and rained in the weeks before this race. It was epic!! Deep mud, thigh deep water (knee deep on our part of the course). There are many pics and videos out there of this race. What fun slippin' and slidin' in the mud!!

What would you do differently?:

Not a thing. There would be no way to be fully prepared for the conditions we had on this race.

Post race

Warm down:

Had some major cramping after this race. Samantha helped me to the campground showers and I got rinsed off and warmed up.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Just my lack of experience with that distance. This was really pushing it for me.

Event comments:

Next year I just might have to try the full course (50K). Just maybe.
