Total Time = 7h 07m 33s
Overall Rank = 1965/2199
Age Group = 25-25F
Age Group Rank = 54/66
Pre-race routine:

Completely hectic. Woke up late, underestimated time to eat breakfast, didn't grab everything when we left the room and had to run back up TWICE, making me almost miss transition closing.
Swim
  • 42m 33s
  • 2112 yards
  • 02m 01s / 100 yards
Comments:

For the life of me, I can't figure out why I was so slow. I started in the middle of the wave, so that probably only added an extra 30 seconds on to my time. This should have been around 38-39 minutes.

Based on my other friends that raced this, we were all 4-5 minutes slower than our predicted times.
What would you do differently?:

Not sure because I can't figure out what went wrong.
Transition 1
  • 03m 33s
Comments:

Run run run to my bike, as far away from the swim exit as it could be :)
Bike
  • 3h 32m 6s
  • 56 miles
  • 15.84 mile/hr
Comments:

Had to ride this blind, as left Garmin/bike computer in hotel room. Disappointed because I got to T2 feeling like I had a lot more to give, but without having any data, was worried about pushing it too hard. Clearly I didn't. I could have turned around and ridden it again and still run.
What would you do differently?:

Bring bike computer with me. easy.
Transition 2
  • 03m 44s
Run
  • 2h 45m 37s
  • 13.1 miles
  • 12m 38s  min/mile
Comments:

Sprained left ankle a few weeks before this race, so per my doc, had to build in a lot of walking breaks to keep it happy. Expected this pace, so other than just being annoyed I was forced to run so slowly, it all went according to plan.

It was QUITE hot and humid for a spring race, definitely not what we've been training in.
What would you do differently?:

Not sprain my ankle a few weeks prior to a race :)
