Nothing special. Breakfast and drive to race site.
Event warmup:

Went for a quick run 1/4 mile or so and then jumped in the pool and swam about 400Yards or so.

Did the smart thing and pre-registered. This put me in the water about where I should be. Passed 2 or 3 people and got passed 1 time I believe. In the more crowded areas I paused and glanced down the lane first and picked my path. Added probably 20 seconds overall but made swimming a little easier.

Transition was about as good as I could have done.
What would you do differently?:

I stopped and stepped into sandals on the way out the door. Probably just go barefoot next time.

Supposed to be a really windy day but front had not moved in yet. Picked up some pretty strong gust on the backside where all of the hills were but not to bad. I have been pretty run focused and noticed that I have lost some of the fitness gains I made up until the last few weeks. Need to ride more.
What would you do differently?:

Not ride the Adamo seat again. Left my water bottle cage at home so not fluids on the bike caught up to me on the run. Need to make sure I check everything twice before I leave.

The insert of my shoe slid forward and crumpled at the toe. Had to take my shoe off and fix it, did not fix completely but figured it was close enough and only a 5K. Should not have time to blister up to much.

Held on to pace OK out but faded on the last mile.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing really. Run was about what I expected after having run 12 miles the day before. Quads were a little tight and started to cramp a bit at the end so I had to slow up a bit in the last mile.
