Comments: I was right on schedule to finish under an hour when my IT band acted up at about mile 4. Had to stop and stretch and slow down in order to finish the race. Otherwise it was a beautiful day, a little warmer than I thought, but I dressed appropriately. My rank for 50-59 year old females was 9/42 What would you do differently?: Wear my cho-pat knee wrap for long distance. Post race
Warm down: Walked, stretched and had some post race food. Looked for Max and Patti. Litchfield has no phone tower, so both our cell phones were almost useless. I had to drive away, then phone. Finally found each other. I kept asking men during the race if they were Max...one of them responded, "I will be, if you want me to". That was my day. What limited your ability to perform faster: My dumb knee acted up. I am really pissed off (can I say that?) Thought it was healed, but here it is again. I guess I'm really a short distance runner. Event comments: Next year I am going to prepare just for this race. Since the course is near me, I am going to train it more often. Also, had great BBQ with Max and Patti. I can't believe the great people I have met on this site!!!!! Last updated: 2004-06-08 12:00 AM

Had a good carb breakfast with my usual coffee...race didn't start till 1pm. Got to Litchfield at 11:15 to park my car and find Max and Patti. But due to parking problems I couldn't get to our meeting site until 11:45 (15 minutes late). Didn't find them till the race was well over, but thats another story.
Jogged prior to the race for approx 1/2 mile because I figured that 7 miles was long enough to run. Had my Endurox at 11:00, and my GU at 12:45. Stretched my calves, etc.
