Subject: First ever DNF - and did to myself

DNFed a sprint tri this am. Blew out the rear tire at the bead, after mounting a new tube last night. UGH...

 

Came home, grabbed an older trainer tire and tube and went for a longer ride

Well aint that a b*tch!!! Did you consider just picking up your bike and running the rest of the bike course?! Now that'd been pimp!! Sorry to hear, no one wants to have a race of any distance end that way.

Which is why I put new tubes and tires on my bike today to have a week to check them out.    DFN due to equipment failure is just part of the learning curve.   Not the best way to learn, but hey, no one is perfect.

I thought about this as I changed my tire friday night.  was going to change it next week for my race next weekend, but thought it would be good to get in a ride between tire change and the race to make sure everything was working.  Put in 51 miles yesterday and so far so good!  Hopefully it will hold up.
