Run
Comments: started off the run feeling really good actually. i went through 4k at about a 35:00 pace which in reality was silly but oh well. kinda blew up after that, started to get a cramp, and got through 5k at 18:00. Had a few bad km at 4mins and one at 4:12 then i hit 8km at 30min. I figured i should just try to aim to break 38, so the 9th k was not bad, but then i cruised in a speedy 3:29 at the end to close for 37 and a half , which isnt too bad considering my pb is 36:33, so pretty happy with that. What would you do differently?: hm, well perhaps actually register and not race the morning of/drive 6hrs straight haha. but im happy with decision, good to know i can run that time on tired legs. The thing is my legs werent really what held me back it was the cramp, so with that time i should definitely be in PB form next time i race a 10k Post race
Warm down: nothing really, hungout with the waterloo team members that came down to race. Event comments: ottawa race weekend is amazing. i hope to continue to attend this event for many years to come, and i plan on this being the location of my first marathon at some point in the future! it was also really neat to be on the start line behind guys like Geoffrey Mutai (winner and currently fastest man to cover 42.2km) as well as Eric Gillis.
