So far, so good.  This will be a tune up race for IM Wisconsin. I hope the swim course is set up better than last year, I heard it was a mess.

I wouldn't say it was a mess. There was so much fog you just couldn't see anything. It was actually a little spooky. You could hear other people but you couldn't see them. No way to see from one buoy to the next. My swim was about 6 minutes slower than normal last year due to navigation. I'm just hoping to have mt Achilles healed up and ready to go for this event. This can be an awfull long, hot boring course to have to do too much walking in.

OK, someone give me an overview of the course.  Easy, flat, hard, hilly?  I don't have any races scheduled until August and I'm thinking about doing this one for fun.  Not really making it an "A" race or anything, just something to fill the time gap if it's not a super tough course.

I take that back. Some hills 2/3 in for a few miles definitely worth mentioning

How can this possibly be a wetsuit legal race with the heat we've been having? Any guesses?

I don't believe they are a USAT sanctioned race, but I could be wrong. The temp is also higher for age groupers than elites when creating the cut off.

I had the course at about 1700 feet of elevation. Definitely not what I would consider hilly by any means, but don't be fooled, this is not a pancake flat course.

I had to pay a $12 single USAT license fee, so I am definitely sure it is sanctioned.

I am not sure if it's going to be wetsuit legal. If the water's 75+ I wouldn't want a wetsuit anyway, it'll bite you in the butt down the road if the outside temps are anywhere near normal for late July.

If it's wetsuit legal you don't have to wear your wetsuit, I'll go ahead and stick with mine though. Rumor has it I might be a little faster, ....also never heard of paying the price for wearing a wetsuit later in the day??? I've certainly paid that price pushing too hard on the bike, but not from wearing a wetsuit!

tuckert - there's a pretty interesting thread on ST about some DNFs at Eagleman this year. That race is known for being hot and the water temp was right on the wetsuit temp threshold. When the water temps are warm enough it's pretty easy to cook yourself in a wetsuit, especially at racing paces.
