Subject: HIM after car/bike accident.
Last week i was hit by a car while on a trainng ride, instantly dashing any hopes to compete in my first HIM scheduled next month. My bke was totalled and my injuries have prevented me from doing any training since. Considering my entry fee and accomodations are non-refundable do think i could go and just do the swim leg of the race? Or will race directors keep me out since i don't have a bike/helmet to check in....

I don't know about just doing the swim. Maybe you could contact the race director and defer your entry to next year? Good luck on your recovery.

Sorry 'bout the accident.  Hope you are recovering well.

Have you tried to explain your situation to the RD?  While you may not get a full refund, some might offer you something (partial, entry for next year or at another race).  But if that all fails and you want to swim, I doubt you'll have a problem.  Usually packet pick-up and bike check-in/helmet inspection are seperate so nobody will know that you don't have a bike waiting in T1.

Can you borrow a bike? Are you physically unable to workout and finish the race? Heal fast.

Who says you need a bike and a helmet? All I need to get my race packet is a picture ID. You should be able to get your chip/number do the swim and then DNF. I do not see a problem with this at all!!
