I see there's a series of these up in Shelburne, VT. I'm thinking if all goes well for me at Give Peace a Tri, I'll sign up for the tri on September 9th, the last in the series. Has anyone ever done these tris? What's the vibe like? Beginner friendly?

I'm thinking Shelburne is closer and cheaper for me than Wallis Sands Tri in Rye, NH, plus I can stay at a friend's place in Colchester. I'd love to hear what people have to say about these tris.

Thanks!

They are well run and fun.  Very beginner friendly.  The bike course is clean and safe and the run is an "out and back"  Slight uphill out and downhill coming back in.  All around good experience.

Cool! I'm waiting to see how I do with my first tri, but I'm pretty confident I'm gonna want to sign up for another!

I've done these races and they're pretty good.  I volunteered at their first race of this season the last weekend in June. Low frills, basic aid, no medals.  Swim is shallow, bike has some rolling hills, and run is an out and back with some dirt road. You'll see some very competitive racers and some first-timers as well.  There are typically about 125 or so racers, so it's small. Perfect for a newbie. There is also a series in the Middlebury, VT area put on by VT Sun.  Best of luck.

Hi All,

GreenMtnLabbit, did you decide to try (no pun intended!) this one? I'm registered for the August 25th event and am both looking forward to it and dreading it (first tri ever). It sounds like from others it will be a good race!

Hey fellow Vermonters!! Just found out they cancelled my Sprint at Stratton (I'm in Manchester) and looking for another one. Sun Series looks good, or Kingdom Tri. Maybe I'll see you up there.
