Comments: Per race strategy went out fast. First mile slow getting through crowd 6:40. Second mile downhill 6:20, but my heart rate was zone 5 already. Mile 3 downhill mostly 7:01 and heart rate at LT. Mile 4 uphill, slowed to 7:44, HR at LT. Really faded on mile 5, partly mental let down, partly physical, 8:04. Course flattens on mile 6 and I picked it back up, 7:18. Slowed for the last 0.2 due to slight cramping of right hamstring. What would you do differently?: Ran a 5k PR for the downhill first half, but doesn't matter. Overcooked mile 2. I don't think the "Fast first 3" strategy worked for me. I might have run faster if I'd done 7:00's the first 3 and targeted 7:30's the second 3. Next time target Charles Harris time + 2:00. Post race Event comments: Running the Peachtree from the back is a walking party. Running Peachtree from Wave A, you still have to be patient for the first half mile. The post race is very well organized, lots of free snacks. Popsicles! Fun day. Last updated: 2012-07-04 12:00 AM |

Hung out with Darren and Dr Craig. Sipped water and ate a gel.
Walked, jogged from Brookhaven, 1.5 miles to start. Then stood around, light stretching for 30 minutes.
