Driving to a tri this weekend and there is potential for rain.  It'll be about a 90-minute drive.  I transport my bike via a standard bike rack.  Later I will be taking it with me on a longer trip - about 4-5 hour drive.  Do you do anything special with your bike in the case of rain?  Garbage bag around cockpit or cranks?  Just be sure to dry bike and clean/lube drive chain soon after arriving at destination?

Maybe it's just me, but bikes are pretty simple machines.  A little water doesn't hurt them.  Maybe if you had leather bar tape or saddle, or electronic shifters (but I bet they are water resistant).  I hose my MTB off all the time and that is even more complex with disk brakes and shocks.

SO, other than submerging a bike, I wouldn't even worry about water.  Towel dry it a bit when you get there and you're good, IMO.  Maybe clean and lube a bit as well in case that washed off a bit.

Take the computer off before the trip. Clean and lube the chain.

As I have heard said before here "the bike is a tool not a jewel"

Don't sweat the rain and as other have said I would just re-lube the chain and any pivot points.
