![]() Swim
Comments: Had a great swim. I normally have to take a small break but my with all the swimming I have done I felt great. Pace was steady and I stayed as close to bouy's as possible. What would you do differently?: I tried breathing to left side once to switch it up but my left goggle had water and got in my eye. Didn't feel like adjusting them so I just stayed breathing to the right. Think it would be beneficial to switch it up a bit. ![]() Transition 1
Comments: Used the wetsuit stripped which was nice. i had a lot of stuff to do in T1 so I was not upset with my time. 1/2 mile run from the water also. ![]() Bike
Comments: Bike felt great. Worked at trying to stay in upper zone 2. Went into Z4 a couple of time. Pushed a little harder on last 16 miles when I saw I had a chance to come in under 3:00. ![]() Transition 2
Comments: Good transition. Stopped to have some sunscreen thrown on me which was a great idea. Also had to fiddle with my Garmin to switch from bike mode to run mode. What would you do differently?: Get a new watch ![]() Run
Comments: First 6 miles went right on plan with run and walk aid stations. I was right at a bout a 10:45 pace. After first loop i walked a bit with Josi then as i was going up the hill I got twinge in my calf and stopped. From there it was just run until my calf twinged on the verge of a cramp. I never cramped so that was good. I got a second wind at mile 9 and ran aid station to aid station at good pace. Ended up running at mile 10 with a lady who was doing IMWI also and we went with the run a cone/walk a cone strategy for about 1 mile then just ran it in. It was just hot and I could not keep my body temperature down and my HR. The first loop was baiscally all in Zone 4. the only way I could get back into Zone 2 was to stop completely haha. I did find that the greatest thing on the face of the earth after mile 10 was drinking the cola at the aid stations! What would you do differently?: Pray for cooler weather. ![]() Post race
